Het ontwikkelingsteam van OpenPli heeft de definitieve versie van de image uit de negende serie vrijgegeven voor geselecteerde settopboxen gebaseerd op het E2 (Enigma2) besturingssysteem. De nieuwe OpenPLi brengt een aantal nieuwe functies, verbeteringen en bugfixes met zich mee. De definitieve versie van OpenPLi 9.0 komt na de bètaversie van de image die eerder werd geïntroduceerd.
De auteurs van de gebruikersimage waarschuwen dat dit de nieuwe negende serie van de image is, en om over te schakelen van een eerdere versie van de OpenPLi-image is een compleet nieuwe installatie van de image vereist - daarom is het niet voldoende om gewoon continu te downloaden updates van de feed.
Grote verandering: Python 3
Omdat de nieuwe OpenPLi-image Python 3 bevat, zijn applicaties die niet compatibel zijn met Python 3 en ervoor kunnen zorgen dat de applicatie crasht, mogelijk het hele systeem, verwijderd uit het add-onsmenu. De gebruiker kan de ontbrekende applicaties handmatig installeren - door ze van internet te downloaden - maar hierdoor loopt het risico dat het hele systeem crasht, en de auteurs waarschuwen voor deze stap.
De overgang van Python 2 naar Python 3, waar alle Open images voor E2 geleidelijk naar overgaan, is waarschijnlijk de grootste hindernis bij het upgraden naar een image. Gebruikers kunnen de auteurs van individuele add-ons vragen om de applicatie bij te werken met ondersteuning voor de programmeertaal Python 3, maar in sommige gevallen kan de ontwikkeling van de add-on worden beëindigd. De gebruiker moet dus op zoek gaan naar een andere oplossing (een soortgelijke applicatie) of overwegen of hij de add-on echt nodig heeft.
OpenPLi 9.0 nieuws, wijzigingen en verbeteringen
OpenPLi 9.0 brengt nieuwe dingen en veel verbeteringen. Welk nieuws biedt het beeld? Zo is er ondersteuning voor continue updates van de Octagon SFX6008 ontvanger, ondersteuning voor de Opticum Unicable II LNB toegevoegd. Er is ook een optie toegevoegd om de afbeelding te downloaden zonder deze te installeren.
Laten we onder de veranderingen de update van Gstreamer naar versie 1.20.5 en Ffmpeg van versie 4.4.1 naar 4.4.3 noemen, verbeterde ondersteuning voor virtuele FBC-tuners bij gebruik van een opnameapparaat (engine). Afbeelding heeft ook een oplossing voor de functies van de rode knop (HbbTV). De menu's SoftwareUpdate en UpdatePlugin bevatten ook een aantal verbeteringen.
Image OpenPLi 9.0 biedt ook een oplossing voor enkele ontdekte bugs - bijvoorbeeld tijdsynchronisatie, bijwerken van dB/SNR-waarden voor M1502-tuners (bijvoorbeeld in de Qviart DUAL 4K Combo-ontvanger).
In de beschreven afbeelding is er ook ondersteuning voor de nieuwe hardware Octagon SFX6008 WL, driver Rtl8818fu, Uclan ustym 4k s2 ott X en extra ondersteuning voor Inverto LNB IDLU-32L412-UNBRR-OPN, Unicable II Programmable 32UB dCSS LNB.
Onder andere Enigmalight, Gerbera, serienrecorder en mtr diagnostic tool zijn aan plug-ins toegevoegd. Kodi is bijgewerkt naar versie 20.
Gebruikers kunnen ook een nieuwe afbeelding in de radiomodus opmerken of een toegevoegde optie om de netwerkverbindingsinstellingen te resetten.
Naast dit en ander nieuws, wijzigingen en verbeteringen bevat de afbeelding ook stuurprogramma-updates voor geselecteerde ontvangers.
Ontvangerondersteuning voor OpenPLi 9.0
De nieuwe OpenPLi 9.0-image kan worden gedownload van openpli.org. Het is onder andere beschikbaar voor geselecteerde ontvangermodellen VU+, Octagon, Zgemma, AB-Com PULSe, Qviart, Formuler, Edision, Gigablue en een aantal andere merken.
Installatie en migratie naar OpenPLi 9.0
Gezien de aanzienlijke veranderingen in de nieuwe Open PLi 9.0-image, wordt gebruikers van ontvangers met een oudere versie van OpenPLi sterk aangeraden om een upgrade naar de nieuwste versie te overwegen. De nieuwe image kan veel nieuwe handige functies en features met zich meebrengen, maar ook een aantal nieuwe problemen, voornamelijk geassocieerd met de update van Python naar versie 3.
Voordat OpenPLi 9.0 wordt geïnstalleerd, wordt het ten zeerste aanbevolen om een back-up van de bestaande image te maken voor een mogelijk probleemloos snelle terugkeer naar de oorspronkelijke functionele configuratie.

The transition from Python 2 to Python 3, which all Open images for E2 are gradually transitioning to, is probably the biggest hurdle when upgrading to an image. Users can ask the authors of individual add-ons to update the application with support for the Python 3 programming language, but in some cases the development of the add-on may be terminated. So the user should look for another solution (a similar application) or consider whether he really needs the add-on.
OpenPLi 9.0 news, changes and improvements
OpenPLi 9.0 brings new things and many improvements. What news does the image offer? For example, support for continuous updates of the Octagon SFX6008 receiver and support for the Opticum Unicable II LNB have been added. An option to download the image without installing it has also been added.
